Richard and Jean Benfield

Richard and Jean Benfield are the major contributors to the Richard and Jean Benfield Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in any Engineering and Applied Technology program. Richard is retired from business Jean was born and raised in Buncombe County and author of the book Mountain Born. The Benfields come from families of carpenters manufacturers and machinists. They want to encourage manufacturing and related jobs in the United States. Their scholarship was established to help students enter the Engineering and Applied Technology programs and graduate with satisfying practical skills.
